From Benchley IP, LLC Regarding The Book of Quint

Until very recently, Wendy Benchley, the Benchley family and Benchley IP, LLC consistently withheld support of JAWS fans’ projects.  In anticipation of the 50th anniversary of JAWS and in recognition of the enthusiasm and continuing loyalty of the fans, a decision was made to not block fan projects such as books or articles from being published, on condition that:  (1) a specific disclaimer appear on each copy of each fan work and (2) a percentage no less than 10% of all profits be donated to one or more organizations that work on shark and ocean conservancy issues. 

The Book of Quint by Ryan Dacko is a fan project that Benchley IP, LLC has allowed to be published subject to these conditions.  Allowing fan projects to proceed should not be interpreted as a license or other grant of rights, nor as an official endorsement or authorization.
